History

The Knox Memorial Library, the main branch of the Austin County Library system, was a gift to the citizens of Wallis and surrounding
communities by Robert W. Knox in memory of his great-great grandfather, Joseph E. Wallis, the founder of Wallis, Texas.

The Knox Memorial Library’s automated, 17,000 volumes, library
collection and free Public Access Internet service is available to
meet the informational and recreational needs of the community’s
residents.
